Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)


The Dallas College Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) staff are licensed mental health counseling professionals, such as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), LPC Supervisors (LPC-S), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), LCSW Supervisors, and Licensed Psychologists (LP). They are highly qualified mental health and behavioral health specialists who hold master’s or doctoral degrees.

Our professional counselors are located at all seven campuses of Dallas College. Counseling services are free and available to students ages 18+ who are registered and attending the current, ongoing semester. CAPS offers in-person as well as telehealth options for counseling sessions.

The Dallas College CAPS Team is committed to providing solution-focused mental health and behavioral health services to our students, such as:

  • Mental health counseling and psychotherapy
  • Screenings for depression, anxiety, trauma, alcohol and other drug abuse
  • Crisis intervention and suicide risk assessments
  • Psychoeducational groups and events
  • Professional development, such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or AS+K Suicide Prevention trainings
  • Information and referrals regarding community mental health resources

Our services are focused on mental and emotional health and wellness, especially in response to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, loneliness, isolation, and distress.
