The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Health Information Technology (HIT) program is a 60-credit hour curriculum that prepares students to identify and use a variety of health informatics and informational resources and technologies to perform entry-level skills in the health informatics and information industry. The program provides foundational training in computers, health information content and management, quality improvement, coding and reimbursement, legal aspects of health information, and management of health care delivery systems.

All HIT AAS curriculum courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification examination administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Successful completion of the program and RHIT exam provides the credential needed to pursue advanced degrees such as the BS in Health Informatics and/or the BS in Health Informatics and Information Management.
