TEXAS Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG)
|
|
The TEOG program provides aid to financially needy students enrolled in a two-year Texas public two-year college. In addition to satisfying general eligibility requirements, a student recipient of this initial award must:

Be enrolled at least half-time as an entering undergraduate student in the first 30 hours (or its equivalent) of an associate degree or certificate program at an eligible institution (excluding credits for dual enrollment or by examination);

Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident;
-
Have a nine-month EFC of no more than an amount which equals 60% of the average statewide amount of tuition for general academic teaching institutions for the award year set forth in April of the corresponding year;
-
Have applied for available financial assistance;
-
Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance in the state of Texas;
-
Not have been granted an associate’s or baccalaureate degree;
-
Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt; and
-
Not be concurrently receiving a renewal TEXAS Grant.
A recipient of a renewal award must have previously received an initial TEOG award and:

Be enrolled at least half-time as an undergraduate student working on an associate degree or certificate and have not yet been granted an associate’s or baccalaureate degree;
-
Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident;
-
Have a calculated financial need;
-
Have applied for available financial assistance;
-
Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance in the state of Texas;

Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt; and
-
Not concurrently be receiving a renewal TEXAS Grant; and
-
Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
