Texas Direct - Associate of Arts Degree with a Field of Study in Psychology

This plan is an official Field of Study Degree approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

This degree plan is designed to meet the needs of students who plan to major in psychology and transfer to a four-year college or university in Texas. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved this field of study in psychology. Therefore, this degree plan will constitute a semester credit hour transfer block to any public Texas four-year college or university with a psychology major.

Transferring students shall not be required to repeat courses transferred as part of this field of study curriculum in psychology. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with academic advisors at their transferring college or university to verify and confirm each institution’s unique psychology major requirements before applying.

In order to be eligible to receive this A.A. degree, a student must:

  1. Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
  2. Earn a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1301  and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3. Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 (“C”);
  4. Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI)  requirements and course prerequisites; and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.
