College Readiness:

Enrolling in one or more of the following courses may be necessary if assessment activities and previous academic experiences indicate a need:

  • TSI development minimum for college readiness (Reading, Writing, Math)
  • ESOL
  • Learning Frameworks : Effective Fall 2019 semester, students with less than 12 successfully completed college-level hours will be required to take and complete EDUC 1300 , a first-year general elective course that will contribute to student success by addressing factors that impact learning in college, including: research and theory in learning; strategies to monitor, regulate and control cognition, motivation and behavior; and the ability to think ethically and critically.

In order to be eligible to receive this A.S. degree, you must:

  1. Complete the required 60 credit hours listed in this degree;
  2. Earn a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1301  and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3.  Receive a GPA of at least 2.00 based on all college-level course work, that includes credits transferable to Dallas College;
  4.  Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI)  requirements and course prerequisites and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

Core Curriculum: The Core Curriculum Section of this degree plan is arranged by Component Areas and CB Codes. Core Curriculum is a solid foundation of the 42-hour Core Curriculum and its 9 Foundational Component Areas (FCA)  are embedded in this degree. Completing the Core will enable you to meet the challenges of your college career head on. As you work to complete the 60 hours required for the A.S. degree, you will also meet the 42-hour Core Curriculum.

Distance Learning/Online: This A.S. degree may be completed through a combination of on-campus and Distance Learning/Online courses; or if planned correctly, the degree may be completed entirely through Distance Learning/Online.

Transfer: Receiving institutions are not required to accept a grade below “C” in transfer. If you plan to transfer, work closely with an advisor/counselor.

  • In this degree, courses cannot be used to satisfy both the Core Curriculum and six hours of general-elective requirements.
  • Computer Literacy: If a student successfully completes *BCIS 1305 , *BCIS 1405 , *COSC 1301 , ITSC 1401, POFI 1301 , or equivalent with a grade of “C” or better, the course will satisfy 3-4 credit hours of general-elective requirements.
  • *Student must have taken courses within the last 10 years.
