The Welding Applications AAS and Welding Applications Certificate  consist of the same welding courses. The only difference between them is the AAS requires a small amount of additional academic coursework that the certificate does not require. Upon completion, students should possess the skills and knowledge for successful careers in welding. The welding portion of both awards prepares students to successfully apply technical knowledge and skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to join or cut metal surfaces. Students are able to choose from three different emphasis: Multiple Welding Process, Pipe Welding and Fitting, or Fabrication.

A student must complete all courses in ONE specialization (MULTIPLE PROCESSES WELDING SPECIALIZATION, PIPE WELDING AND FITTING SPECIALIZATION, or FABRICATION SPECIALIZATION) to be awarded the Welding Applications AAS.
