  • Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI)  standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
  • Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

The Paramedic Certificate option is for students already certified as Emergency Medical Technicians. Potential students will be considered on an individual basis to determine if they have an adequate educational and EMS background.

This certificate is in compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Commission on Accreditation of EMS Programs (CoAEMSP). It includes classroom, laboratory and practicum (clinical and field instruction) which shall include supervised experiences in multiple hospital departments as well as with a licensed EMS provider and in other settings as needed to develop the competencies defined in the EMS National Standard curriculum.

NOTE: Classes are offered as cohort based with students expected to start and finish in their particular cohort. These cohorts will be offered at night, shift-based, and fast-track/academy style lasting between 7 and 13 months.

+EMSP 1501  and EMSP 1164  prerequisite courses may be met by holding a current, active and valid National Registry or Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Six credit hours can be awarded for EMSP 1501  and EMSP 1164  after completion of the Paramedic program.

NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.
