  • Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI)  standards and course prerequisites.
  • Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

This degree is designed to prepare students for various entry-level technician opportunities in the information security sector with emphasis in cyber security in government, private sector, and law enforcement agencies. The program consists of three specialization tracks leading to the Associate of Applied Science Degree. Students may specialize in Cyber Defense, Information Assurance, or System Security Administration.

The Cyber Defense specialization combines both networking and systems administration fundamentals with a focus on defensive strategies to securing networks and systems.

The Information Assurance specialization places more emphasis on computer operating systems, network security, and incident response to security threats.

The System Security Administration specialization combines systems administration fundamentals with the requisite security concepts and best practices required to implement, administer, and harden operating systems.

This program is intended to provide a foundation on which the graduate can build an information security career through expanded experience and/or further education.

Students may receive the Cyber Security AAS degree for only ONE specialization in either the Cyber Defense Specialization, Information Assurance, or the System Security Administration Specialization.

A student must complete all courses in ONE specialization: CYBER DEFENSE SPECIALIZATION, INFORMATION ASSURANCE SPECIALIZATION, or SYSTEM SECURITY ADMINISTRATION SPECIALIZATION to be awarded the AAS in Cyber Security.
