The Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree is a Board-approved collegiate degree program consisting of lower-division courses intended for transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. This plan is for those who are interested in earning certification to teach Early Childhood through Grade 6 in a generalist classroom setting.
In order to be eligible to receive this A.A.T. degree, a student must:
- Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
- Earn a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1301 and the selected college-level mathematics course;
- Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.5;
- Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements and course prerequisites; and
- Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.
Distance Learning/Online: This A.A.T. degree may be taken through a combination of on-campus and Distance Learning/Online; or if planned correctly, the degree may be completed entirely through Distance Learning/Online.
Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.
