The Business Administration/Entrepreneurship certificate is designed to prepare students to start, develop, finance, manage, and harvest new ventures with high growth potential. To explore the development of innovative thinking and venture exploration which could, ultimately, lead to a new business venture.

Students examine current academic theory, best practice in the field, and are exposed to successful practicing entrepreneurs. Courses are presented within an active learning environment so that students develop the skills to initiate their own ventures, join the family business, or work in entrepreneurial firms anywhere in the world.

The certificate, which is designed around the business plan, examines how to formulate business ideas, select a location, select a legal form of organization, locate financing sources, assess the market, develop a human resource management system, and establish budgets for control.

BUSG 1315  Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship will be the Capstone for this certificate - a practicum where the student will prepare a written business plan for an actual business venture; for profit or nonprofit.
