Texas Direct - Associate of Arts Degree with a Field of Study in Political Science

The Field of Study (FOS) curriculum for Political Science is the set of lower division courses that must be applied to the bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government. The FOS should be followed by community and technical colleges to structure a transfer curriculum in Political Science and Government. The FOS does not apply to International Relations, Political Economy, National Security Policy Studies, or other related specialized undergraduate programs.

In order to be eligible to receive this A.A. degree, a student must:

  1. Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours including all the required courses listed;
  2. Earn a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1301  and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3. Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 (“C”);
  4. Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI)  requirements and course prerequisites; and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.
